Transport - Taxis

If exiting the Arrivals Hall, the taxi stands are situated to your left, at the northern exposure of the Transportation Centre.
It is very important to note that there are essentially three different taxi “routes”, and there are separate aisles at the Transportation Centre for these.

- The red taxis are urban taxis, and service throughout Hong Kong - except Tung Chung Road and roads in south Lantau.
- The green taxis are “New Territories” taxis, and service only the New Territories and certain routes in Lantau.
- The blue taxis are Lantau taxis, and service all areas in Lantau.

All taxis can convey passengers to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Apart from this exception however, the taxis cannot take you anywhere but their designated areas.
Fares start at $15, and it’s an extra $1.40 for every 200m after the first 2km.
There is also a HK$ 5 fee for every piece of luggage that is stored in the luggage compartment, and an extra charge will be made for every piece of luggage with total dimensions exceeding 140cm that is carried in the passenger compartment.
Tolls are also charged to the passengers.
Average cost from the airport to Central Hong Kong is HK$ 350.

It’s best to check the Hong Kong Transport Department’s website, to keep up to date with taxi fares, and to be aware of any “hidden charges”. Taxi fares can be found here.
