Transport - Buses
There are a number of buses which service the airport. Buses provide perhaps the most cost effective transport for a traveller on a budget.
There are 6 bus lines in total, lines “A”, “E”, “N”, “S”, “R”, “DB”.
The “A” buses service different parts of Hong Kong without stopping in the Tung Chung area; The “E” buses however pick up passengers in the Tung Chung area. The “N” buses are the “Night buses”, which take over after the last “A” and “E” bus. The “S” buses serve local Tung Chung area. The “R” bus services the Lantau Link Toll Plaza and Kong Kong Disneyland area. And finally, the “DB” buses travel to Discovery Bay of Lantau Island.
Generally speaking, visitors need only concern themselves with the “A” and “E” buses as both of these connect with different parts of Hong Kong.
The main routes to Central (including Kowloon) are the A11, E11, N11 (the nightbus).
Generally speaking, at the time of writing any fare on these lines will not come to much more than HK$ 45.
In terms of travelling from the other direction, buses that travel from the city to the Hong Kong International Airport are those marked with the letter “A” or “E” on the route number. From any point of departure in Hong Kong, any bus that starts with an “A” or an “E” will take you to the airport; except routes E21A, E21X and E31. You will note that there are some buses with an orange colour; this indicates that the bus can handle large amounts of luggage.
