Dining

At the Hong Kong International Airport, you have no shortage of choice when it comes to your dining – There are more than 200 retail and catering outlets at Hong Kong SkyMart and more than 120 retail and catering outlets at SkyPlaza.

Most styles are catered for; there are the obligatory international chains of fast food outlets, local delicacies, casual and fine dining.
The HKIA actually received the “Best Airport – Dining Facilities” in 2004 by a Skytrax survey with over 5 million international travellers polled.

When it comes to the chain stores, such as McDonalds and 7-Elevens, those inside the Hong Kong International Airport sell items at the same prices as their “outside” stores (at last check, a McDonalds Big Mac cost roughly HK$ 13).

There are plenty of places to grab a cup of coffee… again, there are the international brands, such as Starbucks (in fact, several Starbucks… at last count, 5), and there are also the “Pacific Coffee” stores, Hong Kong’s own answer to Starbucks.

We know that every traveller is after some tips on where to go, so here are a few of our suggestions:

If you’re after local food, then one of the best kept secrets at the Honk Kong International airport is the “Lost City of Snacks”, the cheapest Chinese restaurant in the airport. It’s kept largely a secret though, due not only to its small size, but also the fact that it remains fairly hidden amongst all the surrounded duty free shops. Regardless, it’s a delicious dim sum deli, and is well worth a visit if you’re looking to spend some of your Hong Kong change before departing.
How to find it? It’s directly across from check in counter F, in the middle of the departures hall.

Of course, for any traveller it’s handy to be able to access the internet while having a cup of coffee or a bite to eat on the run; so here are some dining locations we could suggest that provide free internet terminals to their guests:

  • Cafe Deco, Level 7 East Hall
  • Mix-Juices & Smoothee Bar, Level 5 Arrivals (Meeters & Greeters Hall South)
  • Pacific Coffee, Level 7 Departure Check-in Hall (near Aisles A & K)
  • Sky Garden, Level 6 West Hall
  • Taiwan Beef Noodle, Level 6 Northwest Concourse (near Gate 65)
